Here's the Robyn Hitchcock Story...

So the story goes like this...Last time Robyn was in town at the Great American Music Hall I was lucky enough to have him push me out of the way as I was going into the theatre. He had missed sound check and was in a hurry to get in. After a moment's debate with the ticket lady about the fact that he was indeed the guy on the ticket, he was in and I felt honoured to have been pushed out of his way. Little did I know that when I went to check out what his T-shirts looked like he would be there to compliment me on my T-shirt (the vintage Syd Barrett on black with the rip in the side) and to apologize for pushing me out of the way. I was looking at the opening act's CD (Morris Tepper) and Robyn assured me it was good. We talked about what it was like and I asked for a guarantee, jokingly. So then he wrote a little note on the copy I had. When I told him I hadn't purchased it, he said it was "on him". The story tells better over coffee and a long period of time, but not really. I did manage to ask him if there was any Syd Barrett in the show....he paused for a long time and replied, "not that I am aware of..."

Here is what Robyn wrote on my CD cover...

Oh, yeah, and the lack of Syd was no problem seein' as he played "Visions of Johana" like I have never heard it before...
