The Tinfoil Player

This is an example of a French tin foil machine. It dates back to around 1879 and little more is known at this time about it. Write Aaron if you know more than that! What can be directly determined is that this little cast player (cylinder box for scale) uses one stylus for playback and recording, has a slot for a sliver of wood to anchor the foil, and has a wood horn speaker that is secured by three screws. Any of you collectors recognize this?
