Below are three phonographs owned by Stephen Taylor. Stephen is the first person to stop by my antique phonograph pages and to take me up on the offer to put up his photo's. Stephen
has yet to send me any specific info about how he got each machine or such similar information, but he most certainly will when you all send him email encouragement to do so! He can be reached at sdt@efn.org. If you would like to be the next person to take me up on putting your collection on the web for all to see then send me your info and photos!

The Victor Victrola Ten pictured here is an "upright" encased acoustic phonograph. This model has a full size base (as opposed to a table top model) and doors to control volume. The VV, or Victor Victrola models were essentially the "deluxe" machines of the times. The machines known as simply Victors
are the machines with the external horns. Essentially these machines were made before the VV series.

This picture is the Talkophone. It dates in the early 1910's and there isn't a whole lot more to say about it. This is a good example, however, of the early horn support system. note how the horn has a "rest" and a flexible connection between the horn base and the reproducer. Contrast it with the picture below.

The Victor 2 is an early Victor machine (as noted above!). This machine, apart from having a very ornate horn, is the essential Victor style. As noted in above also, this machine has a rigid construction common to later such phonographs. The horn could be positioned to stay in place while the reproducer arm was moveable. The weight of the horn was supported at its base rather than from underneath.
