The Anderson Council
The Anderson Council was the first band I ever had. The name came from the second two names from which Syd Barrett took the name of his band (The Pink Floyd). The band had as many members as we had friends, but eventually the band that would actually play in public was made up of me, Phil Mack, and Alex Salazar. Phil and I originally wanted to have a real band so he went and got an Ensoniq keyboard and I got a real guitar and amplifier. We needed a drummer to go with our drum set (collected from here and there) so one Christmas Phil bought Alex a set of drum sticks. It was his job to fill in any "holes" in the kit.
We never got too serious until I went away to college and Phil and I realized that we liked to tell people that we were in a band. I often drove down from UC Davis to practise with Alex and Phil. We played mostly Pink Floyd stuff at first, then we played stuff like the Talking Heads and the Beatles. We did original stuff too, none of which was that great, but it was a lot of fun. The pictures show how totally young we were...
...but we did manage to play a show for the St. Joseph's 50th anniversary! We did a set, noted below, that was at least uninspired! If you want to know more, and why might you, you will have to send me email or wait until I can properly embellish this part of my web pages!
