The Killer Dust Bunnies

"They Start In The Corners...And Take Over The Room"
The Killer Dust Bunnies were a one time band. That is, the Dust Bunnies played together maybe five times to gather songs and assemble a set, and then once in public. Originally the St. Joseph's commitee (the committee who asked the Anderson Council to play the 50th Anniversary) asked Rick to get the Anderson Council to play at the annual event (the 51st I guess!). Well, Phillip didn't think he could get it together in time for the show, so Alex and Rick got Jay Minn (with whom Rick lived at the time) to play piano and, like that, the Dust Bunnies were born. In short, Alex and Rick didn't want to miss the chance to play in front of people. The set was heavily filled with Grateful Dead covers and lots of improvisation. Except for an occasional Neil Young or Traditional song, it was pretty much a live thing. That is, made up for that day. Two songs into the set guitar strings started breaking and by the middle of the set, Jay had broken his keyboard. That meant no playing songs that required a tone without a sudden decay; essentially the second set was 100% piano and 0% Hammond organ. Closing with Hey Jude, Jay screaming, the Dust Bunnies faded into nothing as soon as the amplifiers were packed. Just as a note, Dust Bunnies are the little balls of dirt and dust that collect in the corners of rooms and under furniture.
